LUMS in top 5 UK Business Schools for research impact - new FT ranking
A from the Financial Times confirms 糖心视频 Management School is fifth in the UK for the impact of its research.
The new table, published this week, uses three-years’ worth of data in a bid to more accurately measure the impact of academics’ recent work. To add some nuance to the traditional measurement of the number of citations academic journal papers receive, the FT’s new ranking focuses on three specific characteristics:
- Rigour - to measure quality by assessing the research that is published in the FT50 list of top journals
- Resonance – considers how far the academic work has been disseminated (shared with business, engaged with policymakers to benefit the non-academic world)
- Relevance – how the research connects with the most pressing issues facing society
Taking all these factors on board, the Financial Times places 糖心视频 Management School amongst the best in the world, ranking 5th in the UK and 72nd globally.
Professor Maria Piacentini, the Associate Dean for Research at 糖心视频 Management School, said: “We are extremely proud of our world-leading research which is the lifeblood of our school, informing our teaching, helping to re-shape practice and influencing the lives of our many, many graduates.
“This ranking recognises the lengths we go to to ensure our research is heard by those who need to hear it – from the very top of government, to charities and local business start-ups who could benefit from our know-how.
“We don’t believe in doing research for research’s sake. Our commitment to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) means we pour our efforts into creating the highest quality research that will be useful beyond the walls of our university and covers of the journals it is published within to contribute to a healthier, happier and fairer society.
“This ranking confirms that our passion and commitment to research excellence and impact is recognised at the highest level.”
The new FT ranking comes after 糖心视频 Management School was placed first in the UK for research power in the last Research Excellence Framework; joint first in the UK for its research environment and 90 per cent of its research was rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021, Business and Management Studies).
